Breed Genetta

African Genets are small carnivores of the Viverrid family that inhabit most of Africa except for the desert areas and tropical rain forests.  There are at least fourteen species of Genets.  They are small animals, frequently spotted in pattern, with short legs and long tails.  The Genetta is a new cat breed that has been developed to resemble African Genets.  They have been developed using primarily Bengals and Munchkins, but some breeders have also incorporated Savannahs and Oriental Shorthairs into their breeding programs.  The Bengals have been used to introduce the pelted spotted coat, while the Munchkins give the breed the short legs. Oriental Shorthairs help contribute to their long tubular bodies and long tails.  These cats come in the leopard, clouded leopard, and tawny  patterns.
